Amazing Detergent

Word Bank: experiment, swirl, saucer, tension, detergent, colourful, liquids, success, affecting, food colouring, surface, low viscosity, reaction, movement, ingredients, pour, different, react, effect

We are going to learn about surface tension with liquid.

Proucure

What you need:
milk

saucer

food colouring

detergent

What to do: First fill the saucer with milk. Pour one drop of every food colouring on the milk, around the edge of the saucer. Put one drop of detergent in the middle of the saucer.

The food colouring will start to go around the saucer.

I predict the detergent will make the colour go into a new colour and make the colour around it start to swirl and mix colours.

What happened

When you put the detergent in the milk it makes the colours swirl around, make the colours into a different colour and gets smaller.

The Knight

Once upon a time there was a knight who rode

over the hills,

and killed a dragon,

and set fifteen women free

from an enchanter who kept the prisoners in a tower

and found a castle where they could live,

and rode on to the desert

where two kings were fighting a war that never ended

and waved a magic shield over the battle

so all the soldiers stopped fighting and said,

"What are we here for?"

And then the knight turned and rode back,

through the desert,

past the tower,

over the hills,

and when she got home she took off her armour,

patted the cat and made herself a cup of tea.

Homework week 7

Poetry Homework for this week is by Edward Lear:

The Owl and the Pussy-Cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat:
They took some honey, and plenty of money
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
"O lovely Pussy, O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are,
You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!

Poem

The Man From the Snowy River
There was movement at the station, for the word had passed around
That the colt from old Regret had got away,
And had joined the wild bush horses -- he was worth a thousand pound,
So all the cracks had gathered to the fray.
All the tried and noted riders from the stations near and far
Had mustered at the homestead overnight,
For the bushmen love hard riding where the wild bush horses are,
And the stock-horse snuffs the battle with delight.

Pegasus the Winged Horse

Long ago in the land of Lycea in Asia there lived a fierce monster called Chimera. It breathed fire and smoke from its huge nostrils and devoured anyone who dared to come near it - sheep, cattle, men, women, children, and even wild beasts.

People were afraid to come out of their and their King Isobates could neither sleep nor rest for worrying how to rid his land of the evil monster. For what man would be so brave as to undertake so dread a task? The monster had no fewer than 3 heads, a goat's, a loin's and a serpent's and from its three heads there gushed forth long tongues of flames that burned the countyside and spread destruction far and wide. The Chimera's body was like that of a dragon and its tail like that of a boa consticter.

At that time a brave and noble youny knight, Bellerophon by name, chanced to be visting the King of that matter. It was Bellerphon's fondest dream to do some brave and valiant deed, so when the strength against the beast he was only too eager to prepare himself for this mighty task.

Where will the Magic Carpet take you???

My magic carpet took me to a village in Asia.

We flew across the sea past Darwin, past Timor, and there I saw it Asia.

My magic carpet flew me down to the ground. My magic carpet and I went to the markets and I bought a vase, a gold necklace and a rug. (To keep me warm) I got back on my magic carpet and flew off. There were a few temples with mosaics and some ancient ruins. I saw many animals such as elephants, tigers, snakes, crocodiles and some monkeys.

It was getting dark so my magic carpet and I went up to the mountains and had a rest which kind of turned into a sleep. Suddenly, I woke from a growling sound. There was the most ferocious, biggest and scariest tiger I had ever seen. I thought was dreaming so I pinched myself, OUCH, no I wasn’t dreaming. I ran for it, along side my magic carpet. We ran for quite some time until a dead end. I tried climbing but it was just too steep. The tiger was just about to claw me. Just then, my magic carpet tackled the tiger. While the tiger was on the ground I jumped on my carpet but it was the rug I bought earlier! Then I jumped on my magic carpet and flew all the way home.
